What decommissioning covers

Read the make-good clause before you plan the move out. It usually asks for more than an empty room.

Furniture removal

Every desk, chair, screen and storage unit out of the building, including the systems furniture nobody wants to dismantle.

Asset resale

Where furniture has value, it is sold rather than dumped, and the proceeds come off the cost of the clearance.

Donation routing

Usable furniture that will not resell goes to local nonprofits, with a receipt for your records.

Recycling and disposal

Sorted properly. Landfill is the last route, not the default one, and e-waste never goes there.

Decommissioning questions

When should we start planning a decommission?

As soon as you know you are leaving, and before you plan the new fit-out. Resale and donation both need lead time, and they are the two things that reduce the cost.

Can we recover any money from the old furniture?

Sometimes. Recent, good condition, brand name furniture has a resale market. Ten year old cubicles generally do not. We will tell you which you have rather than promising a rebate that never appears.

What happens to computers and drives?

E-waste is separated and drives are destroyed to a documented standard with certificates. It never goes in a general skip, for your compliance and ours.

Do you handle the make-good work as well?

We clear the space and hand it back broom clean. Construction make-good, such as removing partitions or making good the ceiling, is a contractor's trade, and we will say so rather than take it on.
